Safety Retreat is a comprehensive online self-help program for people living with ME/CFS, Long COVID, POTS, MCAS, and other medically unexplained or persistent chronic symptoms. It was developed by physician Dr. med. Jacqueline Metzner (Doc Jay), who personally recovered from severe ME/CFS, and naturopath and coach Rolf Metzner.
The program combines current scientific concepts such as the Cell Danger Response (CDR), neuroplasticity, psychoneuroimmunology, and nervous system regulation with practical everyday strategies. Its goal is to help participants better understand their symptoms, reduce fear and uncertainty, and develop a greater sense of safety, stability, and self-efficacy.
Safety Retreat is suitable for both beginners and more experienced participants. It provides structure, understanding, and practical tools to help translate knowledge into daily life and support long-term change.
-
The program is delivered through 24 concise video lessons, a comprehensive workbook, guided audio exercises, and regular live Q&A sessions.
Participants are guided through five structured stages that cover topics such as the Cell Danger Response (CDR), nervous system regulation, pacing, neuroplasticity, sleep, nutrition, blood sugar regulation, diagnostics, supplements, and lifestyle factors. The content is released step by step to encourage gradual learning, reflection, and practical implementation.
Additional support is available through the Safety Lounge community, optional guided pacing support, and individual coaching sessions.
